Solving Sticky Situations

When I am using a lot of glue especially on small pieces, I have tried many things to protect my surface but it seems that the more I do, the more residual glue gets on the paper I am using under my pieces and soon I am frustrated with pieces sticking to the paper or inked images running and ruined.  I solved this with magazines.  Some are just junk mail, others are magazines we are done reading but none the less they are headed for trash/recycling. Recycle a magazine for a protective surface under your projects you are applying glue to and as they get sticky with residual glue, tear the page off for a new surface.

Tissue paper scraps

In keeping with the Earth Day theme and Re-use, Pe-purpose, and Recycle, this is a way to make a beautiful backdrop for a card.  It is definitely better to recycle tissue paper, the more wrinkled the better!
Coat a piece of cardstock with Bonding Memories Glue and press the tissue paper over it.  Rub gently so not to tear but even tears add to the demension.  Trim off excess.  Mix 2 drops or desired amount of Re-inker to a small amount of Create a Shade Pearl Paint and coat the tissue for a little sheen.  Then cut to desired size and layer with your embellishments.

I added scraps from Lucy paper collection, Just Blooms, Clear Sparkles, and Glitz Silver Glitter Gel. Bling!

Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle

I admit I am a hoarder.  I just know I can do something with just about anything.  I used to get these tin cd boxes in the mail to sign me up with some email service and they went into the "I'll find a use someday box".  And I did! It's the cutest little album! Decorate the outside with paper, stamps, letters, ribbon etc and then inside....

Add pages and pictures! Great little gift, theme album, durable brag book... And best of all the tin cd box was free!  And I am reusing, repurposing, recycling!

I Love Lucy!

I just love Lucy!  Lucy is the most adorable paper collection.  The soft pastels were perfect for my little Princess' tea party birthday pages. The exclusive WOTG stamp set, Compliment Rub Ons, Just Blooms, and Baker's Twine all coordinated to make the prettiest pages you can imagine.  And of course there has to be some bling!  I added Bitty Buds and Sparkle Flourishes and you will want to add them too. Do you have a princess, a prom, wedding? Then you need Lucy.  This workshop is coming up May 9 so order right away to have your supplies in time.  Or get 2 friends to join you for a convenient time of your choice.
During April and May with your order of $35 or more you can choose Dottie For You Paper Collection valued at $19.95 for just $5.

Sticky Situations

I love my VersaMat and Micro-tip Scissors.  The VersaMat is great for the measurement grid, self healing surface and that it protects my works surface from nicks and all the "embellishments"  I add to my projects.  I equally love my micro-tip scissors.  They are so sharp and maneuver around some of the most difficult patterns.  The cap is great to keep them sharp and protect me and the rest of my supplies from their super sharp points and blades. To keep these in tip top condition here's some helpful hints.  I clean and use my favorite spray furniture polish on the VersaMat.  It protects it and although adhesives still stick to it, the polish makes adhesive much easier to remove and renews the mat to new condition.  I've learned the hard way that cutting adhesive foam tape or sticky papers gum up my scissors and make them almost useless.  You can clean them carefully with soap and water, Undu, goo-gone or even rubbing alcohol but then to keep them in perfectly sharp condition for the intricate cutting they are meant for, I found an inexpensive pair of scissors that I designate just for use on the adhesive foam tapes and sticky papers.  Your tools are an investment, keep them in good condition and your projects will be easier and come out better.
